Your local Childminder...

The following procedures have been put in place to support the Health and Safety of your child.

A safe environment We do a risk assessment of our home every morning before the children arrive to ensure that it is a safe environment for themAll plug sockets not in use have socket coversAll equipment will be checked and cleaned regularly. All equipment is fitted with the correct safety harnesses to prevent accidents, for example highchair and pushchairs. We will keep our front door locked and the keys hidden to prevent the children opening the door We do not permit smoking in our home We use safety equipment appropriate for the children in our care, ie stair gates, cupboard locks etc. We have procedures in place in the event of a fire (see our separate policy)

Transportation Our vehicles are regularly serviced and MOT’d. We keep the safety locks on the back doors working.Our car insurance is for Business use.Car seats are checked regularly to ensure they are correctly fitted. We will never use a second hand car seat.You may supply your own child seat for your child, which we will check before use.

Your child We ensure that the children do not have access to any waste.We have strict Safeguarding guidelines in place (see our separate policy)Children must stay with us when we are away from the home. Younger child will be strapped in a pushchair, older children will either be on a harness or wrist strap, or holding onto our hand/pushchair.We have emergency contact details with me at all times should we need to contact the parents.We will teach the children about safety issues like crossing the road and stranger danger.We will teach the children about making healthy food choicesWe will teach the children about the benefits of physical exercise.Children will also be regularly monitored when sleepingWe may need to restrain a child if they are putting themselves or others in danger, for example running into a road.

Food preparation We keep our kitchen very clean, following hygiene guidelines on the storing of food, keeping the fridge at the correct temperature etc We follow strict hygiene guidelines to prevent cross contamination

Toys We regularly check and clean all toys to ensure they are safe for your child to use. Broken or hazardous toys will be removed immediately. We ensure children will only be offered toys and resources that are suitable for their age/stage of development.
